🐾 DOG HOUSE GAME RECAP

⚔️ ROAD WARRIORS: COACH COY DOROTHY’S TITANS HOLD THE PHALANX

There are football games where everything is pretty.

Then there are games where you strap it up, get on the bus, enter somebody else’s territory and find out who wants it more.

For Coach Coy Dorothy and the West Hancock Titans, this was the latter.

The Titans traveled to Knoxville for Game 3 and brought a physical brand of football with them. West Hancock ran the football, created turnovers, battled at the line of scrimmage and showed the kind of toughness that continues to define Dorothy’s program.

The Road Warriors went to work.

And when the Phalanx formed, the Titans held the line.

⚔️ WEST HANCOCK WENT TO WAR ON THE GROUND

There wasn’t much mystery surrounding West Hancock’s offensive game plan.

Run the football.

Then run it again.

The Titans finished the night with 44 rushing attempts for 254 yards and three touchdowns, averaging nearly six yards per carry.

West Hancock also collected 23 first downs and finished with 279 yards of total offense.

At the center of everything was Chandler Dadant.

Dadant carried the football 25 times for an incredible 206 yards and a touchdown, averaging 8.24 yards per carry.

But those numbers tell only half the story.

Because when West Hancock’s offense left the field, Dadant simply changed assignments and went back to work.

There are good individual performances.

There are great individual performances.

And then there are performances where you look at the stat sheet afterward and simply say:

That dude played some football.

Chandler Dadant did exactly that.

🏈 OFFENSE

206 rushing yards
8.24 yards per carry

🛡️ DEFENSE

14 total tackles
13 solo tackles
1 tackle for loss
1 sack

Think about the workload involved.

Dadant carried the football 25 times, surpassed 200 yards rushing and scored a touchdown.

Then he went to the defensive side and led West Hancock with 14 tackles.

That’s old-school, two-way high school football.

🐾 FROMAN WAS EVERYWHERE

Dadant wasn’t alone.

Hunter Froman was another major part of the Titans’ attack.

Froman rushed six times for 26 yards and two touchdowns, then caught four passes for another 21 yards.

Defensively, he delivered one of the game’s biggest plays by recording an interception and returning it 14 yards.

And, because apparently playing offense and defense wasn’t enough, Froman contributed on special teams as well.

That’s the kind of versatility every coach wants.

Need a touchdown? Froman.

Need a takeaway? Froman.

Need special teams help? Froman.

The kid just makes football plays.

🛡️ WHIBLEY BRINGS THE HAMMER

Don’t overlook what Hunter Whibley did, either.

Whibley carried seven times for 44 yards, averaging better than six yards per attempt.

Then came his defensive performance:

10 tackles. One tackle for loss. Two forced fumbles.

Two forced fumbles in one football game can completely change momentum.

West Hancock wanted to make Knoxville earn everything, and Whibley was one of the Titans making sure there was a price attached to every yard.

💥 TURNOVERS KEEP THE TITANS FIGHTING

Knoxville was able to produce 307 yards on the ground, but West Hancock’s defense kept creating opportunities.

Froman recorded the interception.

Whibley forced two fumbles.

Benton Boley recovered two fumbles.

That is something Coach Dorothy can build around.

Good defenses aren’t always about holding somebody to 100 yards.

Sometimes defense is about making the play that changes a possession.

Punch the football out.

Fall on it.

Intercept it.

Give your offense another opportunity.

The Titans did that.

🏈 KNOXVILLE WANTED TO RUN — AND EVERYBODY KNEW IT

Knoxville wasn’t interested in hiding what it wanted to do.

The Panthers attempted only three passes, completing none, and accumulated their offensive production almost entirely on the ground.

Austin Harshbarger was the biggest challenge, rushing for 172 yards and two touchdowns on 11 carries, while Hayden Warner added 104 yards and a touchdown on 16 attempts.

It became a physical battle.

No secrets.

No tricks.

Line up.

Block.

Tackle.

Get back in the huddle and do it again.

That’s football.

⚔️ COY DOROTHY’S ROAD WARRIORS

I’ve watched enough football over the years to know that sometimes a team’s record doesn’t tell you nearly enough about the football team.

That’s how I feel about Coach Coy Dorothy and West Hancock.

This group has already faced adversity.

They’ve been punched.

They’ve been tested.

And they keep coming back.

There is something being built inside this program that goes beyond wins, losses and statistics.

Toughness.

You don’t manufacture that on Friday night.

It comes from Monday.

Tuesday.

Wednesday.

Thursday.

It comes from weight rooms, practice fields, difficult losses and the decision to come back the next morning and get better.

And eventually, that toughness begins showing up when you travel.

That’s when a team becomes dangerous.

⚔️ THE TITANS HELD THE PHALANX

There’s something fitting about calling this group the Road Warriors.

The Titan doesn’t need home-field advantage.

The Titan doesn’t care whose crowd is screaming.

The Titan doesn’t ask whether the conditions are perfect.

The Titan marches.

Coach Coy Dorothy’s guys marched into Knoxville and battled.

Dadant carried the rock 25 times for 206 yards and then made 14 tackles.

Froman scored twice and picked off a pass.

Whibley forced two fumbles.

Boley recovered two.

West Hancock rushed for 254 yards.

The Titans produced 23 first downs.

And they kept swinging.

That’s the identity.

That’s the culture.

That’s the kind of football team nobody should be excited about seeing pull into their parking lot on a Friday afternoon.

Coach Coy Dorothy has some Road Warriors.

The Phalanx formed.

The Titans marched.

## Charles “Chuck” Banks ### Founder and Voice of Coaching Culture in Athletics Radio Broadcast Network Charles “Chuck” Banks—known to many throughout the tri-state sports community as Coach Banks or “Chuck the Tank”—is the founder and lead broadcaster of the Coaching Culture in Athletics Radio Broadcast Network. Built from more than two decades of coaching, teaching, leadership, and relationship-building, the network is dedicated to telling the stories of the coaches, athletes, schools, and communities that make local sports special. A native of rural Iowa, Banks has spent 20 years in education and more than 25 years coaching football. He earned his bachelor’s degree in History and Secondary Education from Graceland University in 2004 before completing a master’s degree in Secondary Education and Educational Administration and a specialist degree in Educational Leadership. Throughout his coaching career, Banks worked with programs across southeastern Iowa. His stops included Centerville, Central Lee, and Fort Madison, along with seven years coaching girls basketball and additional experience in junior-high track. At Central Lee, Banks served as an assistant defensive coach and activities director before becoming the Hawks’ head football coach from 2020 through 2022. Central Lee reached the playoffs during his final season. He was also part of multiple playoff teams and a district championship during his time with the program. At Centerville, Banks spent nine years as an assistant and helped the Big Reds capture a district championship and earn multiple playoff appearances. Most recently, he coached at Fort Madison under Head Coach Derek Doherty, helping develop younger players within the Bloodhound football program. Banks’ defensive coaching journey evolved from the traditional 5-2 defense to the 3-3-5 before he found his preferred home in the 4-2-5. However, his coaching philosophy has never been limited to schemes, formations, wins, or losses. He believes the greatest responsibility of a coach is to build relationships, develop leaders, create belonging, and prepare young people for life beyond the playing field. That belief became the foundation for Coaching Culture in Athletics. What began as an effort to create meaningful conversations about coaching and leadership grew into a full sports-media and broadcasting network. Coaching Culture in Athletics now serves as the umbrella for Dog Pound Radio, The Coach Show, the Dog House Tour, Dog Pound U, Hound Talk, the Dog House Saturday Morning Blitz, live game broadcasts, team previews, rankings, interviews, historical features, and year-round coverage of local athletics. Through the Dog House Tour, Banks visits practices, meets coaching staffs, interviews athletes, studies programs, and gives local teams the type of detailed coverage normally reserved for much larger schools. The network’s reach extends throughout southeastern Iowa, western Illinois, and northeastern Missouri, connecting communities across the tri-state region. Banks has covered and developed relationships with programs including Fort Madison, Central Lee, Centerville, West Burlington–Notre Dame, Mount Pleasant, Macomb, West Hancock, and Brown County. His work highlights more than star players and final scores. It recognizes assistant coaches, linemen, managers, scout-team players, school traditions, historic stadiums, longtime community supporters, and the people working behind the scenes. Faith and family remain at the center of Banks’ life. He and his wife, Stephanie, have built a life rooted in southeastern Iowa and are the proud parents of Chelsey, Peyton, and Katarina. Their growing family includes son-in-law Donald Archambault and grandchildren Orion, Owen, and Ollie. Banks often credits his family for standing beside him through the demanding seasons of coaching, education, broadcasting, illness, and recovery.
